New server

Hello,

We are outfitting a new web server to replace an older one that runs a VS.Net 2008 application  that uses an Oracle Data provider.

The version runnning on the older server is Oracle Data Provider for .Net version 11.1.0620

On the newer server, should I look to install the same Oracle data reader (provider) version (if still available) or will it be safe to install a current one?

(I think they are up to 12 now?)  I remember when we first got this program up and running it was kind of tempermental, then it finally worked.

I believe the new server will need Oracle data provider, IIS, Javascript and .Net framework...is there anything else I am missing?

And is the Oracle Client different from the Oracle data provider? Do I need to install Oracle Client first?

Obviously I am a little Oracle confused.

thanks
